Read Matthew 5-7

As an adult, I now realize what a privilege it was to grow up in a small church, surrounded by family and close friends. Everybody knows everybody – literally! There was very little chance of getting away with anything, because there were too many eyes watching. As a child, this was the bane of my existence, just like the preaching part of church.

Since Children’s Church had not been discovered, everyone went to worship service.  We all lined up in our assigned order in our family pew with instructions to be still and listen to the preacher, or else. The Sunday morning the preacher captured and held my attention, and the Holy Spirit began to move in my young heart, was when he preached about Jesus and the Sermon on the Mount. For the first time the Word truly spoke to me. It was alive and real, not just words on a page in a book.  That Sunday morning that preacher preached what my tender heart needed to hear, subsequently leading me to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

Today, when life gets chaotic and I need recharging, the Sermon on the Mount restores and encourages me with its promises.

One great way to weave worship into our daily lives is to fill it with music that helps focus our hearts on our great God.  Here is a Spotify playlist that has all the songs our worship team has led us through in the last month’s Sunday evening services to get you started. http://bit.ly/GBCPMThisMonth It’s updated weekly, so “follow” it to keep fresh worship music in your life.
