Read: John 14:6

“Mama, who made God?”  When my son asked that question, he confirmed what I already thought:  he was undoubtedly brilliant! Only much later did I discover that many children ask the same question.  I remember trying to come up with an answer that he could understand.  How do you explain to a child that God always has been and always will be?  Shucks, I still don’t understand that myself.

God is the giver of all life, and He needed no one to give Him life.  Nor does He need anyone to sustain Him.  He is life. When Jesus declared: “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” He was declaring Himself to be God.

Further, Jesus pronounced that He was not only the originator of life, but He both had and could give eternal life.  If that is true, He was God in the flesh.  If it is untrue, He was a liar and a fraud!

But the human heart yearns for more than just life.  Restless for fulfillment, it searches for something more.  Knowing this, Jesus also declared Himself the source of abundant life!  For more than two thousand years, men and women have taken Him at his word and proven him truthful.  Life is both eternal and abundant when we walk with Him!
