Read 1 John 3:1-3

Recently my husband and I were able to spend an entire day together, leisurely running errands and enjoying one another’s company. It was fabulous to spend that much time hanging out with him. He’s my best friend, and as the years have passed, we’ve grown more and more alike.

As usual, there were many times throughout our day together when we finished each other’s sentences. Even in quiet moments it was easy to tell what he was thinking, because I can easily read his expressions. Later, I found that I could hardly wait to brag to my friends about how patiently my dear husband waited while I shopped at my favorite store. Yes, he even carried my purchases to the car!

It’s amazing how often I find myself bragging on my husband. I love him so much that he’s one of my favorite topics of conversation. In many ways, I guess you could say I’m a disciple of my husband.

In a similar way, we as Christians are called to be disciples of Jesus. A disciple of Jesus is someone who enjoys meeting with Jesus, grows to be like Him, and can’t help but talk about Him. When we really love Jesus, we will strive to live like Jesus and love others like He loves them. The more time we spend with Him, the more we will want to talk about Him with others, and the more like Him we will become.

Are you growing as a disciple of Jesus?
