Read Revelation 22:9

In Revelation 22:9 the angel told John to “Worship God,” but a number of years ago, that’s exactly what I was unable to do when I came to church. The church was going through a difficult time, and as I entered what should have been a sanctuary from those times, hurtful thoughts began to swirl in my mind. There was so much swirling around inside me, even the music actually irritated me, and my focus was not on Jesus. I was miserable.

In my own quiet time I began to pray, asking the Lord to forgive me and help me to worship once more in His house. All I heard in my heart was ‘prepare,’ so I began to prepare my heart to worship. I  got up early every Sunday morning to pray … for the service, the people, for God to enable me ‘to cast down every speculation and lofty thought, bringing every thought captive in obedience  to Christ,’  and to enable me to worship Him ‘in sprit and  truth.’   God was so faithful. The situation didn’t change soon, but it didn’t matter.  His presence kept my thoughts and focus on Jesus, and I began to praise, sing, and listen with a heart of worship.

Prayer is important not just during worship, but to prepare our hearts for worship that pleases and glorifies our God

One great way to weave worship into our daily lives is to fill it with music that helps focus our hearts on our great God.  Here is a Spotify playlist that has all the songs our worship team has led us through in the last month’s Sunday evening services to get you started. http://bit.ly/GBCPMThisMonth It’s updated weekly, so “follow” it to keep fresh worship music in your life.
