ReadLuke 6:41-42

Y’all, my Jesus is so realistic. He is so true to life. He even puts some humor into His teachings.  When I look at myself, I see specks of things that are wrong, and yet in other people, they are magnified to planks.  I am quick to notice other people’s faults and mistakes, and they become larger in my eyes. But, y’all, when it comes to my own faults and mistakes, I minimize them. I excuse them away, thinking that, because I meant well and tried hard, it’s somehow ok.  I think I am special, so it’s OK that there’s just this little speck. But those people, what’s their story?  They have planks!

What will change my judgmental spirit?

Look at Jesus!

Jesus does not play the blame game with me.  Isn’t that incredible?  Here I am playing the blame game over trifling matters.  John 3:17 says that He did not come into the world to condemn the world but to save the world.  He came and opened His arms to me and said, “I know that you’ve sinned, come close.”  He bowed His head to all the sins I've ever committed; He took them on Himself. And He said, “Shame on ME.” No shame for me. The shame went to Jesus.

If I judge, it’s because I've forgotten the cross.

Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.

Supplication: Petition God regarding your family and your ministry.  Ask for help and guidance in sharing your Jesus with others and helping others grow in Him.  Offer prayers concerning your activities for this day and any special concerns you may have.  Intercede on behalf of local, national, and world missions.  Pray the Great Commission would be fulfilled and for any special concerns you may have for missions.
