Read Colossians 1

This is one of my favorite times of the year. While I don’t necessarily appreciate the sun disappearing at such an early hour, I certainly do enjoy the cooler temperatures and the transition to the holiday season.  This is such a wonderful time to be with friends and family, to enjoy each other’s company, to reflect on the past year, and to give thanks for all that God has given us.
It would be easy for me, and I’m sure most of us, to fill a page with all the wonderful things I am thankful for.  I have a wonderful family, I have been blessed with good health, and I have a job that I love and truly enjoy.  Furthermore, I am blessed by a supportive church family, pastoral staff, and I live in a country that allows me to worship the one true God.
But, do you know that even if all these things were taken from me tomorrow, I would still have more than enough reason to be thankful?  God has given me, and each of us, the greatest gift by sending His son Jesus.  No matter what I may face here on earth I can rest assured that God has promised me a hope and a future, and my salvation is secure in Christ Jesus.  And that is plenty to be thankful for!
