Read Luke 4:18

How many of us take our sight for granted every day?  I have always been blessed with good vision. I do not wear contacts; I do not wear glasses. I realize one day that may change, but I certainly enjoy being able to see things clearly.  Even those who require corrective lenses are grateful, I'm sure, for their sight.

I remember a time in my life when, although physically my eyesight was perfect, I was spiritually blinded.  I knew the Gospel, but, I was so distracted by questions that seemed unanswerable that, I had lost sight of God's call for my life and began to doubt if all of his promises were true.  Thankfully, God worked through my parents ands friends to restore my faith in Him.

In Luke 4 Jesus, while preaching in the synagogue, read from Isaiah 61, "He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners, and recovery of sight for the blind..." Scripture records that Jesus truly did miraculously restore physical sight to the blind. But just think of the vast number of lost people who have been freed, given sight, and a new life by hearing the good news of Jesus Christ.  Each and every one of us is born lost, blind, and captive. But Jesus came to free us and give us sight. Amen!
