Read John 1:47

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!”

Picture this scene – Jesus standing on a dusty road, watching Phillip and Nathanael approach from a grove of fig trees. He already knows them. There is not any need for Jesus to size Nathanael up, so what is He thinking? What does He think when He sees us? Perhaps it is something like this:

Just as I saw Nathanael, I see you coming toward Me. I see your wants and needs. There is so much that you want that only I can fulfill. You look to others for the fulfillment of needs and desires that are Mine alone to fulfill. As I see you coming toward Me, I know these things about you just as I knew about Nathanael. I long for you to know Me more, not for Me, but for you. It is in knowing Me that you will find not only peace, but also fulfillment – satisfaction of those things which trouble you most. The health and wellbeing you desire are found in Me.  The salvation you desire for your loved ones is in Me. I love those you love, and I long to use you to draw them to Me. Be assured even when you are unaware, I use you to do this very thing. You catch glimpses of my work in their lives, but as you lean further into Me, you will gain my perspective to see this come to fruition before it comes to pass. Just as Nathanael, I have known you were mine. Endeavor to know Me more. There is always more.
