Read: 1 Timothy 6:3-5

Before my recent girls’ trip to Florida, I foresaw a number of challenges (mostly due to the 7 girls : 2 bathrooms ratio!).  However, I hadn’t realized what a problem just getting there would be.  My friend’s husband had printed directions, giving us 3 route options.  The iPhone gave us yet another.  Of course, we only partially followed any of them and ended up going way out of our way.  Had we not gotten back on course when we did, we surely would be in North Carolina by now!

Our society offers us so many options for achieving eternal life.  Books, talk show hosts, televangelists, and even friends may try to convince us that there is more than one way to God.  Those suggestions often sound good – they’re flexible, logical, and can easily be encompassed into our current lifestyles.  But no matter how great these options may seem, they just don’t line up with the road God laid out for us from the beginning.

“I am the Way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except by me.”  (John 14:6)   The direction is clear, concise, and unequivocal.   Anything else will take us where we don’t want to go.  Matthew 7:14 explains, “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”  Be sure you’re on course today!

Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.

Supplication: Petition God for growth in your desire to know and please Him.  Ask Him to give you a greater love and commitment to Him.  Ask Him for the grace to glorify Him in your life.  Intercede on behalf of your local church, other churches, evangelism and discipleship ministries and other concerns you may have.  Offer prayers for your activities for this day and any special concerns you might have.
