Read Matthew 21:1-12

Have you ever thought about what it would have been like to live in Jesus’ time?  I know I have often wondered how I would have received him. Would I have recognized him as God in the flesh? Would I have been willing to drop everything and follow him?

It would have been so nice to have been able to see Jesus in the flesh and hear him speak in person.  How awe inspiring it must have been to be able to witness the miracles he performed first hand!  But would I have been willing to do what he asked his disciples to do? Would I have dropped EVERYTHING and followed him on faith alone?  Some would say it would have been easy after meeting him and witnessing his miracles, but such a big sacrifice may not have been so easy.

Matthew 21 starts by telling how Jesus fulfilled the prophecy in Zechariah of coming to Jerusalem, but it is verse 6 that grabbed me the most.  “The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.”  The Gospels are full of examples of the disciples listening to, learning from, and following Jesus.  Fortunately, for us, scripture also records times when their faith wasn’t as strong, but ultimately they put Jesus first.

Even today we are called to do what Jesus has instructed us.   Let us be good and faithful disciples and commit to putting Jesus first.

One great way to weave worship into our daily lives is to fill it with music that helps focus our hearts on our great God.  Here is a Spotify playlist that has all the songs our worship team has led us through in the last month’s Sunday evening services to get you started. http://bit.ly/GBCPMThisMonth It’s updated weekly, so “follow” it to keep fresh worship music in your life.
