Read Daniel 7: 16-28

As we have walked through the first 6 chapters of Daniel, we marvel at Daniel’s strength, his courage, and unshakable faith.  Even the ultimate test of faith, as he entered the Lion’s Den, showed that his faith was secure in the hands of his Holy God.  Chapter 6 shows another side of his strength as he boldly stood up against the new laws of the King.  Even the friction that emerged in his relationship with his peers, showed his faith to be stronger, not wavering in his deep convictions that were anchored in his faith in God.

For the first time, in Chapter 7, we see another side of Daniel.  In verse 15, he admits that “his spirit was distressed.”  In verse 28 he states that “his thoughts were greatly shaken” and that his “face even became pale.”

No matter how strong our faith is, there are moments in our own lives whenthe burden that we carry becomes extremely heavy.  Like Daniel,  we feel a heavy load on our shoulders that seems to be too heavy to bear. Our faces may also become pale and our hearts heavily burdened.

But thanks be to God, like in Daniel’s dream, the forces of evil were overtaken and the final victory belonged to God’s chosen people.

We too will find victory over troubled hearts when our faith becomes deeply rooted in our trust in God.
