Read Romans 8:38-39

Why do bad things happen to good people? I’m sure all of us have heard this asked and, chances are, most of us have asked this question ourselves.  I have heard the secular world try to answer this question many ways. “There is no god.”  “Maybe God exists, and He just doesn’t have the power to stop these things.”  “If God exists, then why doesn’t he care or love us enough to stop this suffering.”

Scripture negates all of these incorrect explanations.  God does exist, and He is real. (Genesis 1:1-31, Romans 1:18-20) Not only does God exist, but He also loves and cares for us more than most of us will ever realize or comprehend. There are so many scriptures that speak to this truth, but John 3:16, Ephesians 2:4-5, Romans 5:8, Psalm 86:15 are great to read if you need a reminder.

We, as Christians, must remember that we live in a fallen and broken world.  The consequences of sin and separation from God are obvious to anyone who watches the news or reads the latest headlines.  However, God still loves us! And He still loves the lost and longs for them to be in relationship with Him. We have a promise that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God.  Not our government, not terrorists, not criminals, not other religions, not even our own selfish sin habits, NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING will keep us from God’s love (Romans 8:38-39.)
