Read Psalm 147
Landscaping.  Painting.  Laying tile.  Refinishing furniture.  Adding a bathroom.   For hours every day my neighbor works on some type of project around the house.  As I see him tinker in his garage, I sometimes scratch my head and wonder what in the world he’s thinking.   I may be skeptical during the early stages of a project, but he always knows exactly what the end result should be and it’s always amazing.  He should have his own HGTV show!

I’m reminded that God does the same thing on a much bigger and grander scale.  “Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who provides rain for the earth, Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.”  (Psalm 147:8)   And yet, even with all of nature to contend, He is also working on me.  “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.”  ( Philipians 2:13)  Admittedly, I’m not always thrilled nor do I understand the purpose when He begins a project in me, but I know that the end result will be better than anything I could have planned on my own.

So while I may get tired of my daily chores and sometimes just the routines of life, I am invited to rest in the knowledge  that  He who never sleeps will continue the work He has begun.
