Read Isaiah 40:8, Romans 8:28

Isaiah 40:8 – The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God stands forever.

Such was the theme of Dr. Ken Story’s humorous, yet sobering, message this Sunday.  No matter how bleak our national or personal future may look, God is still sovereign. Exodus tells us that while Moses was listening to God on Mt. Sinai, the Israelites got nervous and asked Aaron to make them a god who would go before them.  They feared. They did not wait. God was dishonored, and they were punished. I Samuel tells us that while Saul was waiting for Samuel to come and offer the burnt offering, the appointed time came and went, and he offered it himself. He feared.  He did not wait. God was dishonored, and he was punished. In this time of national rebellion, do we cower down and go with the flow, thinking all is lost?  No!  We keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.  For the final victory is His – hallelujah!

Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
