Read: Genesis 2:22-24

When God formed Eve, He caused Adam to go into a deep sleep and removed one of his ribs.  Have you ever thought, “Why a rib?”   Why not create her out of dust, as He did Adam?
There are 12 ribs on each side of our body, connecting in the center, making up a total of 24 ribs referred to as the ribcage.  The ribcage has 3 main functions: a) protect the heart and lungs, b) support upper body, c) aid in breathing, allowing expansion of the lungs.

God in His sovereignty chose to form woman out of man’s body, establishing the husband as the spiritual authority over his wife.  Ladies, this is why it is crucial for us to submit ourselves to our husbands.  There is no loop hole or escape clause here, my friends.  Husbands stand accountable before almighty God for not just themselves, but for their wives.  We wives serve a distinct role before our heavenly Father to be a “suitable” helpmate to our men.  Women are the ribcage (heart) of the home with a responsibility to protect and nurture our husbands by providing the support and freedom they needs to grow into the men God created them to be.
I have often heard my mom say, “The woman sets the tone of her home.”  This statement could not be more true, and humbling at the same time.  Lord, show us women ways we can be a suitable helpmate to our husbands by submitting to him.   Lord, show our husbands how to be the spiritual authority over us wives in a way that reflects Christ love for His bride.

Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.

Supplication: Petition God for spiritual insight and understanding of His Word.  Ask Him to help you know what is His direction and purpose for your life.  Intercede for other believers, personal friends, those in ministry and those who are oppressed and in need. Offer prayers for your activities for this day and any special concerns you might have.
