Read: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27

In the news recently, it was reported that a B-52 Bomber lost an engine while doing a training exercise.  And by “lost” they meant it fell off, plummeting to the ground far below.  I’m sure a full investigation will happen to identify the root cause.  But ultimately, it probably began with one part failing or for one reason or another not doing what it was supposed to do.  It lead to that entire engine falling off and the whole plane having to land.  It could have gotten by without the engine, but nowhere nearly as effectively as with it.

Each of us is a part in the body.  We may feel like a small part or a big part.  But whether we like it or not, we’re a part and ultimately, if we’re not operating at our fullest, there are consequences for the whole body…not just for ourselves.  Sure, the body may be able to get by without you for a while like that plane, but to be a fully functioning body, we each must walk in what God has called us to.

What is your part? How has God shaped your story to use you today at GBC?  What is your spiritual gift and is God using it through the ministry of your church family?

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the Body of Christ and my invitation to be a part of it.  Help me to recognize that You bought and paid for me in order to use me to advance Your Kingdom.  Thank You for the gifts your Spirit gave me when You saved me.  Help me to see where You are or want to use them to build up Your body at GBC.

In Jesus’ name,
