Read John 13:34-35
I have to be honest. Sometimes I don’t want to love others. When the person cutting my hair leaves me with a lopsided hairstyle, I don’t want to love this person. When the server at my table is inattentive and distracted, I don’t want to show love. When a trash collector leaves the can in front of the mailbox and the mail carrier skips my house because of it, I don’t want to love either of them.
The truth is, it’s easier to not love them. It’s easier for me to get upset about my hair, stiff the server, and make angry calls to the sanitation department and the post office.
But…what if I loved like Jesus?
I might learn the hair dresser is having a bad day because she just buried a beloved pet. I might find out that the server is working a double shift, trying to avoid going into debt for college and still facing hours’ worth of homework after leaving the restaurant. I might learn that the man collecting trash hurt his back yesterday but desperately wants to continue working so he can support his family, or that the mail carrier has a bad knee that makes it painful to get out of the truck to put mail into my blocked box. These people are not trying to make my day worse; they are trying to survive their own day. They could probably use a little love.
Am I willing to love like Jesus? Are you?

One great way to weave worship into our daily lives is to fill it with music that helps focus our hearts on our great God.  Here is a Spotify playlist that has all the songs our worship team has led us through in the last month’s Sunday evening services to get you started. http://bit.ly/GBCPMThisMonth It’s updated weekly, so “follow” it to keep fresh worship music in your life.
