Read Daniel 3

The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in the fiery furnace is one that we all know and have read to our children; but, have you ever noticed what a story of encouragement it is? These three young Jewish men had been taken from their homeland, had their names changed, and were being educated to fit into a pagan culture, yet they held strong to their faith in their God, the one true God.

These young men not only trusted their God, they were in awe of their God. They knew what He had done for His people and were convinced that He could save them if it was His will. They knew they were better off with their God in the fiery furnace than on their knees paying tribute to the god created by Nebuchadnezzar. This was the second time they had been sentenced to death; yet, they were willing to trust their God to again save them and He did!
As believers, we have this same assurance. Jesus says in John 10:27–28, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
