Tragedy seems to be all around: Raging fires in California; floods in Louisiana; police shootings; a private plane crash claiming the lives of 6 parents. There are days I avoid the news completely. Subconsciously, I think if I don’t hear about tragedy, it doesn’t exist.
The reality is, tragedy exists every day. Some days we experience a deeper realization of the tragedy surrounding us—perhaps due to the experience affecting a friend or family member. It is during our times of sadness and tragedy that our faith sustains and strengthens us. Non-Christians notice how we handle tragedy. When we cling to God’s word, others notice. God knew we would face troubles and trials. We should not be discouraged by this, but instead know that He is in control,
It is sometimes difficult to understand God’s plan in the midst of a tragedy, yet it is not our calling to question God’s plan, but instead to look for the blessing in the tragedy. God promises good to those who are called according to his purpose.
Challenge yourself to find the blessing within a tragedy. You will see God there.
