Read: Genesis 1-3

In the beginning God created....

Most, if not all, of Christian theology can be wrapped up in those five words. Where did our world come from? What about the stars, and other galaxies? Where did the people in our world come from? Why are we here?

In the beginning, God created.

Not only can we understand theology from these words, but also personal comfort flows from what we learn about God. God created our world with a specific purpose. It wasn't an accident. He legitimately could have chosen any world He wanted to create.

Whenever I get bogged down in my life and become upset, stressed, or worried, I remember that my life was individually created by the same God that breathed creation into existence. Philosophers and scientists have argued for years about what actually existed before the "big bang." If the above five words are true, then the universe did not exist before God made it exist from nothing.

We serve a big God. Let us praise Him for creating our world, and for personally creating each one of us.

Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.

Supplication: Petition God for wisdom. Offer prayers for your activities for this day and any special concerns you might have. Intercede for your immediate family and other relatives regarding their spiritual, emotional, and physical needs.
