I remember when I was young boy, I had quite an imagination. I would spend time almost every night, as I lay in bed, imagining that I was commander of a large, indestructible, powerful Transformer that could become an aircraft carrier, a flying aircraft, or a walking tank.  It was large enough to house hundreds of my closest friends and family.  We would travel the world and protect innocent people from all the “bad guys.”  While aboard this figment of my imagination, my friends, family and I were completely invincible.  We had unbreakable force fields and the strongest weapons known to man.

In Ephesians chapter 6 Paul lays out exactly how God calls Christians to transform ourselves into powerful and invincible warriors by putting on the armor of God.  We are reminded that our battles are not against flesh and blood, but against the forces of darkness and evil.  Satan uses every way imaginable to attack us and ultimately weaken God’s influence in our lives and in this world.   However, we have truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, and the promise of salvation to help us build an indestructible force field against the enemy.  And finally, we have the sword of the Spirit, God’s word, which The Message calls an “indispensable weapon.”

Let each one of us remind ourselves daily of the wonderful things promised to us as Christians. And let each of us commit to studying God’s word so that we “will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”
