Read Luke 4:16

"… as was His custom." Jesus was in the habit of going to the synagogue on the Sabbath. Have you ever thought about that? God, Himself, was in the habit of going into a place of worship on a regular basis! It rather begs the question, "If Jesus went to the synagogue to worship, as a habit of life, then shouldn't we do the same?"

Jesus went off by Himself, to a quiet place, to pray. He prayed in the early morning hours. (Mark 1:35) He prayed in the late afternoon. (Matthew 14:23) He prayed during the night. (Luke 6:12) If Jesus felt the need to pray at all hours . . .  Jesus sang with his disciples. (Matthew 26:23) He felt an active compassion for people. (Mark 8:2)

If we want our worship to be pleasing to God, to rise before Him as a pleasing aroma, we need to consider these habits of our Lord. While He walked the earth, He was “leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps.” (1 Peter 2:21)
