Read Ephesians 4:11-12

Remember church terms for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ?  Body of Believers, Church Family, Sunday School class, Life Groups, Bible Study Fellowships. The titles keep going.  We are undoubtedly a community of followers (disciples) of Jesus Christ, our risen Lord . We are taught and commanded (Hebrews 10:25), to be around each other. It's for a good reason. I really like what Ephesians 4:12 states, “to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” We learn and teach others when we are in community as a church. Germantown Baptist has a name for this preparing, it's called “Equipping.”

When we are being equipped in a church relationship, we build up the body of Christ. We become unified in our faith and gain knowledge of the Son of God. (v. 13) This truly draws us together, because the more we learn and apply Jesus to our life, the closer we become to one another and to Him. This is maturing in Christ, becoming more like Him. Everybody has something God has gifted them with, to be developed and used to equip others in the church. The more we mature the more this grows and is used and, before you know it, we are really mirroring our Lord.

God has given you something to bring to the table. Bring it and let's share and grow together.
