Read 2 Tim 4:3

"Lord, please protect my family from attacks from the evil one."

It occurred to me with the recent sermon series that I rarely, if ever, pray the above prayer for my family. But what do I pray? How do I pray to protect them? My heart has been led to pray for them to always accept the doctrines of God's word.

In 2 Timothy 4:3, we read, “For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear something new.”

More and more people are falling into the “itch” described in this verse. The Word has always been at odds with the world in which we live. But, one can't help but think that it's getting worse. It seems Christians are no longer even allowed to have our own opinions, being labeled “intolerant” or “hateful.”

That's why I believe praying verses like this over your children is even more vital today than ever before.

Lord, please protect my family from the attacks of the evil one, and give them the strength to always stay in Your word and in Your truth.
