Read 2 Corinthians 3:18

Years ago my kids got one of those abstract picture books where, if you look at a picture long enough, a hidden 3-D image appears. I couldn’t see the pictures at first, but I kept trying. One day I was staring at what was a simple abstract design. Amazingly, I was slowly able to pick out the outlines of three hot-air balloons that were soaring over a mountain range. It was like a veil had lifted, and I could see clearly. Once I had that hidden picture in focus, I could see it in a surprising amount of detail, too. All it took was gazing intently at the abstract picture.
When we gaze intently into the glory of the Lord, we have a similar experience, but on a much grander scale. The veil is lifted and we can behold the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces. As a result, we are transformed to be more like Him. The more we stare at Him and His glory, the more we see. And the more we see, the more we rise from glory to glory to reflect His image.
I recently looked back at that picture book again. But, I had gotten out of the habit of looking for the pictures and could no longer see them. To me, this was a gentle reminder that I can never stop gazing intently into the glory of the Lord, lest I forget how to recognize Him.
Are you gazing intently?
