Read Ephesians 5:19
Every day I begin my day with Jesus. After I stumble in to make a pot of coffee, I read my daily devotion, then turn on praise music. I need Jesus every minute of the day—start to finish. Whether in song, word, prayer, or devotion, I depend on Him.
A few years ago, I took the K-Love Challenge. This required me to listen only to K-Love for 30 days straight---three years later, I still only listen to K-Love in my car. I’ve added a Pandora station of Praise and Worship to my iPhone for listening at home.
What you need to know is, I can’t sing—not at all. I’m not even close to “carrying a tune in a bucket.” Recently, I was rocking a baby to sleep. As she began humming, I realized I needed to sing to her. Panic almost struck! I didn’t want to scare her. What music did I immediately think to sing? Old hymns—hymns of my youth (Rock of Ages, How Great Thou Art, Sweet Sweet Spirit.) I wondered what those who weren’t believers would sing to a baby? What a precious time to plant seeds of Christ in her heart!
Though I was “out of tune”, the baby went right to sleep. I kept singing those songs in my head, filling my heart with music. The baby was happy. My heart was happy. And God was happy that I used my voice for Him.
One great way to weave worship into our daily lives is to fill it with music that helps focus our hearts on our great God. Here is a Spotify playlist that has all the songs our worship team has led us through in the last month’s Sunday evening services to get you started. http://bit.ly/GBCPMThisMonth It’s updated weekly, so “follow” it to keep fresh worship music in your life.
