Read Joshua 6:4-9, 11-13

A friend had a daughter that was on the transplant list for a liver. She had fought a hard battle, and we prayed diligently for a liver to become available for this young mother. When she was close to death, the Lord provided the new liver for her and spared her life.

The Israelites had an upcoming battle that seemed, similar to a transplant list, insurmountable.  In Joshua 6:2 the Lord says “See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the valiant warriors.” The walls were high, their soldiers fierce; yet the armed men were to march around the city followed by the priests with trumpets and the ark of the covenant.  The people were to be silent until the 7th day.  In God’s perfect timing, they were instructed to shout and take possession of the land.  God would fulfill His promises to them.

Our trials often seem insurmountable.  Some times our trials last for years, other times they are short lived. We can persevere through trials knowing that the Lord is always faithful to us.  James 1:12 says “Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

Father, help me to see my trials as blessings and to take hold of Your hope that never disappoints.  Give me strength to persevere knowing You always keep Your promises.  Thank You for being my Strong, Faithful, Victorious God.
