Read Revelation 21

A new heaven, a new earth, a new Jerusalem!  Having lived in the same city my entire life, I can't imagine what that will be like. However, I have moved into a new house. I remember the excitement of fresh paint, new carpet, ample space.

My mind can't really conceive of the glorious beauty of the new Jerusalem. Precious stones and pure gold as common as dirt! As incredible as this sounds, the best is yet to come. God Himself will dwell there with us! This must be even more exciting for Him than for us. In human terms, He has waited a very long time to get to realize what He intended from the beginning. We will have the pleasure of serving Him and seeing His face. Just as it gives me pleasure to see my children happy, it will also give me pleasure to see His face as His plans and purposes come into full fruition. "What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see . . . "

We who serve Him are called His bond-servants. Last week we learned that that word -doulos- means slave. Just a verse later, we learn that we, His slaves, will reign forever and ever. Who would not want to serve a God like this!

In the midst of all this glory, a final warning is given. Only those redeemed by the Lamb will be able to enter the city. Twice in these verses we're told that these words are faithful and true. The invitation is still open. Come!
