Read Matthew 27:27-33
As I read Tim Keller this morning, "Be so filled with the joyful awe of the magnificence of God that we tremble at the privilege of knowing, serving, and pleasing Him", I was moved to pray, “I want that!” And then I read what Christ suffered the days before Calvary. He was rejected, stripped, mocked, beaten, spat upon - all as He was led to His crucifixion. This was the God Who created the world - Who gave up His Godship to become a man - Who had the power to stop what was being done, yet willingly laid down His life in obedience to The Father - All because of love.
It's not that difficult to be in joyful awe of His magnificence. After all, He is Christ. But can I be in joyful awe of His submission and humility? Can I be in joyful awe by committing to His same lifestyle? To give up my rights and expectations, to be stripped of my comforts and fleshly desires, to be mocked by others, to be rejected (even by loved ones), to be spat upon, and in some places of the world, to die- all in obedience to the Father and out of love for Him and others?
As my thoughts turn to Christ this Easter season, I pray I can worship Him fully in His majesty and glory, yet never forget His submission and humility. May we all seek to know, serve, and please our great God, joining in the fellowship of His sufferings, and becoming like Him in every way.
One great way to weave worship into our daily lives is to fill it with music that helps focus our hearts on our great God. Here is a Spotify playlist that has all the songs our worship team has led us through in the last month’s Sunday evening services to get you started. http://bit.ly/GBCPMThisMonth It’s updated weekly, so “follow” it to keep fresh worship music in your life.
