Read Joel 2

We are in the midst of the lazy days of summer.  The kids enjoy sleeping late, staying up later, and spending time outdoors.  Though there is more daylight, the minutes fly by too quickly.  Suddenly, it is mid-June and nothing on the “to-do list” has been accomplished.  At the end of the day, I sometimes wonder, “What did I accomplish today?”

Do you ever feel complacent?  Not just in summer days, but with your spiritual life?  You just find a routine and get stuck there?  It’s easy to allow everyday tasks to take over your day. These daily tasks become boring, lifeless.  Reading in Joel reminds us how important it is to remain faithful, by overcoming our mundane following of Him. Sometimes it takes a “jolt” to remind us that our time should be focused on Him, not on the routine items of the day.  The thought of swarms of locusts appearing to eat all vegetation, resulting in loss of animals, trees, and food resources is quite intimidating.  That’s a jolt I would prefer not to experience.

As I ponder over the remaining days of summer, I will be reminded to seek God day by day, even in the banal routine moments.  How can you change your ordinary days into extraordinary days?

One great way to weave worship into our daily lives is to fill it with music that helps focus our hearts on our great God.  Here is a Spotify playlist that has all the songs our worship team has led us through in the last month’s Sunday evening services to get you started. http://bit.ly/GBCPMThisMonth It’s updated weekly, so “follow” it to keep fresh worship music in your life.
