Read Romans 13:1-4

I could never be a lawyer. I once took a law class that helped towards my major, and it just about killed me! Even worse than being a lawyer, though, is being a judge. I cannot begin to imagine the pressure they must feel to make sound decisions. My law class made me wade through a couple of Supreme Court cases. Let me just say that I don’t envy them.

The Supreme Court Justices end up creating case law that becomes the law of the land. Sometimes there will be case decisions that please us; sometime there will be case decisions that anger us. But God reminds us that no matter what, He allowed these men and women to be in that position of authority. There is no authority other than what He establishes.

So what do we do when we applaud a Supreme Court ruling? We pray for them. What do we do when we disagree with a ruling? We pray for them. God put them there and we must honor and respect the position He has placed them in. We have to trust Him for the rest.
