Read: Psalm 84:5-7

This morning I sat in a hospital room to relieve a tired family member who had been up all night with her mother. Across town a friend was undergoing open heart surgery after a two month battle with difficult symptoms. Then my daughter called, weary with 9 years of daily hardships of an autistic child. So, where do we get the emotional, mental, and spiritual strength to get through this journey of life? How can we make Psalm 84:5-7 a personal reality?

My desire is that my strength for the journey come from the Lord, and yet how hard it is to give up control, the idea that ā€œIā€ can do this! Is it because independence is a valued American trait? Or because I stay self-focused instead of "stopping to dig wells of water" to collect the rain of God's blessings? Or perhaps my view of God is too small? If I saw Him as Almighty God, the only God, and all powerful, then I would be running fast to Him for the blessings of strength, endurance, and joy.

There are times in life where we are called to serve beyond our strength, persevering past weariness, stress, even sadness. The secret, however, is what the Psalmist states so many times: those whose strength is in the Lord are blessed.

What are you walking through now in your earthly journey that is draining you of joy, strength, and peace? Would you dare with me to examine Who God is and recognize that, " He is able to do immeasurably, abundantly, exceedingly more than all we can ask or imagine".

Pray:

Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.

Supplication: Petition God for growth in your desire to know and please Him.  Ask Him to give you a greater love and commitment to Him.  Ask Him for the grace to glorify Him in your life.  Intercede on behalf of your local church, other churches, evangelism and discipleship ministries and other concerns you may have.  Offer prayers for your activities for this day and any special concerns you might have.
