Read: Psalm 84: 1-4

The psalmist was fondly recalling the joys of being in God's presence, particularly, in the house of worship. He sang for joy as he thought of the beauty of that place where he met with The Lord.  He called it lovely, and a place of praise for which he yearned.

I have to wonder if I think of the place where I worship in that same way.  Do I long to be  in corporate worship with my church family at every opportunity? Do I sing joyfully and pray fervently?  Do I give thanks for the privilege I have to worship God without fear or threat?

We are admonished in the New Testament, in Hebrews 10:25, “forsake not the assembling of yourselves together..."  This is both a duty and a privilege that we have. How about you?  Is going to church something you do out of habit? Has church attendance  become just a part of your weekly routine? Do you look forward to Sunday as an opportunity to be with fellow believers, to enjoy the encouragement of sweet fellowship, and to hear God's Word taught and preached? Is the time of praise and worship, through music and prayer, something that excites you, as it obviously did the writer of this Psalm? Will you commit, along with me, to ask The Lord to restore a sense of joyous anticipation as the Lord's day approaches?

Lord, may we be able to say with another Psalm writer, "I was glad when they said unto me, ‘Let us go to the house if The Lord.’” Amen

Pray:

Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.

Supplication: Petition God regarding your family and your ministry.  Ask for help and guidance in sharing your Jesus with others and helping others grow in Him.  Offer prayers concerning your activities for this day and any special concerns you may have.  Intercede on behalf of local, national, and world missions.  Pray the Great Commission would be fulfilled and for any special concerns you may have for missions.
