Read Daniel 1:8-21

Daniel 1:8 is one of my favorite verses in the entire Bible. I especially like the wording in the KJV - Daniel purposed in his heart . . . Sin is, after all, an issue of the heart. It’s not the same if he made up his mind . . ., or resolved that . . . I tried to teach my daughters that there are certain decisions that have to be made ahead of time. Right now, when you don’t have a boyfriend, you have to “purpose in your heart” how you will behave when you do have one. If you don’t decide now, when the time comes, your body will decide for you, and it will betray you. Every. Time.

Notice that Daniel did not try to go it alone. He had three like-minded friends. Sin is crouching at the door. (Genesis 4:7) Today would be a great day to “purpose in your heart” that sin will not rule over you. Go, find a trustworthy friend, or three, to encourage you and hold you accountable.

Miracle 4: Feeding 5,000 – Overcoming Desire

Read John 6
The Lord multiplied 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish to feed thousands. What can He do in your life? Give your all to God and allow Him to give you the desires of your heart. Pray for God to not only meet your needs but the needs of the church and church body. Ask the Lord to give you more than enough to have enough to share.
