Read Daniel 5:17-31

Before Daniel interpreted the writing on the wall, he reminded King Belshazzar of all the warnings and suffering that his grandfather, King Nebuchadnezzar, had experienced before coming to know the one true God. Here was Belshazzar’s opportunity to repent, make restitution (he was using Temple items as party dishes), turn away from his sinful ways and turn to the one true God. Instead, Belshazzar, in his arrogance, promised to make Daniel ‘third ruler of the kingdom, if Daniel was able to interpret the writing on the wall. Daniel then interpreted the writing on the wall, which in today’s words are: “your days are numbered, you have been weighed, measured and found wanting and you are going to have nothing, not even your lowly life.”  It could not have been any plainer. Yet Belshazzar, who surely was familiar with the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego and the fiery furnace, and knew Daniel’s God was faithful in His words, chose not to heed this very personal warning.

How like us today! We have sixty-six books, bound into one volume, telling us what God has done, can do, and will do – yet, do we pay close attention? Job tells us in Job 14:5, “A person's days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” This is the writing on the wall! Now what do we do with our days? Do we choose an eternal life in Christ or our own way, which leads to eternal death?

One great way to weave worship into our daily lives is to fill it with music that helps focus our hearts on our great God.  Here is a Spotify playlist that has all the songs our worship team has led us through in the last month’s Sunday evening services to get you started. http://bit.ly/GBCPMThisMonth It’s updated weekly, so “follow” it to keep fresh worship music in your life.
