When my children were little, it seemed every toy they owned required batteries. There were many times I went to the store to buy batteries – again.

One toy that my son enjoyed was a red remote control car. I put batteries into that thing more times than I could count. Occasionally, I would be busy when he needed new batteries, and I couldn’t get them for him right away. He would then abandon the remote and play with the car without it, pushing the car and crawling along the floor beside it. But he was always disappointed.

That remote control car needed batteries to work in the manner it was intended. Otherwise, it was just a car frame with hard-to-turn wheels. When pushed by hand, the car could go through the motions, but that was about all. Without power, it was not doing the job for which it was designed. With power, it could practically climb walls!

In the same way, we need the Power of our Lord set continually before us, so that we can live out the purpose that He has for our lives. Without God first and foremost in our lives, we are simply going through the motions.

Are you tapped into the Power?

Pray:

Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.

Supplication: Petition God to help you be a faithful steward of your time, talents, possessions, and relationships. Offer prayers concerning your activities for this day and any special concerns you have. Intercede for your local, state, and national governments. Pray for spiritual revival in the nation and offer prayers regarding any current events and concerns.
