Read: 1 Corinthians 1:18, 23-24
When I was a teenager my best friend and I were driving down the road when a school friend pulled up behind us, blowing his horn and waving. We just thought, "Wow, he is really excited to see us!” He then proceeded to drive up next to us, waving with conviction, when we realized this was more than a friendly gesture. In fact our thought was, "Ok, he's a nutcase." He motioned for us to pull over, but being the teenage girls we were, we just waved and drove on. He proceeded to pull in front of us, slowing down to the point of us finally pulling over. As he walked back to our car, he said there were sparks of fire under our car. Teen girls or not, we knew enough to realize this was very dangerous and certainly not worth the possible risk if we were to continue.
I Corinthians 1:18 says, "the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing." The friend trying to get our attention in acts of desperation seemed foolishness to us at the time, but the moment we realized our lives were being saved, he no was longer a nutcase.
How foolish are we willing to look to our friends, neighbors and family in sharing the cross with them. Those we know who are perishing should cause us to frantically wave and blow warning sounds in utter desperation that will cause them to realize the power of God to save them thru Jesus Christ as our only hope of eternal life.
Pray:
Adoration: God is holy, mighty, gracious, and merciful. Spend time declaring your love for Him and expressing your thoughts of praise and worship.
Confession: Ask God to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.
Thanksgiving: Express your thankfulness to God for the blessings He has given you. When we consider that we deserve punishment because of our sinfulness, and instead God gives to us His love and mercy, our only response should be one of thankfulness.
Supplication: Petition God for spiritual insight and understanding of His Word. Ask Him to help you know what is His direction and purpose for your life. Intercede for other believers, personal friends, those in ministry and those who are oppressed and in need. Offer prayers for your activities for this day and any special concerns you might have.
